We are thrilled to be able to officially announce SOREC’s newest Assistant Professor and Entomologist, Dr. Robert Orpet!
In his work as an applied entomologist, Dr. Orpet tries to integrate community members into projects and views research, extension, and teaching as related. He calls his approach “insects and people.”
With past work including testing integrated pest management guidelines on commercial pear orchards combined with interviews with farm decision-makers to understand adoption, recurring earwig transportation workshop to promote biocontrol of aphids and psyllids, and outreach and guest lectures to support a diverse workforce in entomology, Dr. Orpet brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to the #SORECOregonState team.
